“I am going to make everything around me beautiful — that will be my life.”

Elsie de Wolfe

I picked up painting with watercolors after I sold my business. It was the middle of Covid and it made that time of isolation, well a wee less lonely.

Creating art makes me feel free.

I’m a bit of a perfectionist and watercolors are never perfect. You have to embrace mistakes. I started out drawing circles on a blank page (I really did), then I started painting these birds and creatures that just seem to show up when I need them most.

Trust me when I say this. We are all creative.

Find something that peaks your interest a little bit and just start with curiousity. It can be messy and not even something you share at first. But finding your creaitve spark is really a key to feeling alive.

You will have to trust me on that until you decide to try it.

Want to try your hand at French cooking? Buy a cookbook. Take a class.

Want to be a master gardener? Do it. I will give you permission to do it.

I have a friend who has found her creative zone by digging in “her glass graveyard” and making little object from the things she “finds”. It’s nothing but magic.

So. Just make up your mind and make it happen.

I did and I can’t remember a time when my art was not a part of my bigger life. It has taken me places I never dreamed of. I had my first show at 65 and I still remember the excitment.

I love creating art for children’s (and our wonderful grand kids) spaces—nurseries, playrooms, and the little corners where imagination lives. It makes me happy to think my paintings might be part of a child’s earliest memories.

Painting flowers makes my heart smile. I love flowers and knowing I can create them however I choose to is freeing in a way I can’t explain.

My paintings are available unframed, or I’m happy to help you choose framing that suits your style and space. Message me if you want a price. I plan to price them on the website soon, because I think for the most part we are a bit shy to ask for a price on something like art. It’s on my to do lisst .

Or if you live in my town of Greenville, SC, text or email and I’ll have you over to my studio. In the meantime, check out some of my work below.
